Jeremy started his working career in the band of the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Nick’s career began as a solicitor in small regional law firms in New Zealand. He then spent five years as an in-house lawyer for Telstra in Sydney and two years as an Associate in the London office of Clifford Chance during the “dot com” boom. Most recently, he was a corporate partner of Minter Ellison Rudd Watts for 7 years, leading the Wellington, and then Auckland, corporate legal teams.
As an investor in several small businesses himself, Nick is able to look you in the eye and answer your real question – “what would you do if you were me?”
Nick is married to Rachel and has two sons, Reilly and Cormac. He’s a very keen cook and should be a more diligent cyclist to keep him fit.

jeremy patston
Jeremy has also worked on both sides of the fence, inside businesses as an in-house lawyer in London and Auckland and as a senior legal advisor in private New Zealand law firms including Simpson Grierson and Minter Ellison Rudd Watts. Jeremy is highly sought after as a contract draftsman and negotiator, and by clients looking for practical, cost-effective and relevant advice that works in the real world. He is also a trustee of the Diversityworks Charitable Trust.
Jeremy’s decision to join Nick Hodson lawyers was in part driven by his desire to balance his work with being a very hands-on dad to Matt and Sophie. He too needs to re-focus on his cycling – but if you really want to get him talking these days, just mention cars or motorcycles.
